On 29 May, the CYBER AT WAR event was held online, with the theme “Geostrategic position of Portugal in the global submarine cable network. Challenges and opportunities”.

“Submarine cables are vital to cyberspace’s cybersecurity, serving as the backbone of global internet connectivity. These cables transmit vast amounts of data across continents, enabling seamless communication and access to online services which our society depends on. Ensuring the security of submarine cables is crucial as they are vulnerable to physical and cyber threats, including sabotage, espionage, and disruptions, therefore, protecting submarine cables is essential for safeguarding critical infrastructure, maintaining economic stability, and preserving national security.”

This event was attended by the speaker Professor and Colonel (Res) Luís Bernardino.
